Dear Hereford Friends,
Pride of the Pasture represents the best of
the best from Perks Ranch. We are proud to
offer for the first time anywhere,
outstanding “Rambo” daughters, show quality
calves from
this year’s Denver Polled Hereford Champion,
“Reload” and bred females that carry
potential
show winning calves. Rambo and Reload are
nationally recognized herd sires that are
unique in their
physical attributes and have the genetic
punch to enhance beef cattle performance in
any herd!
Since purchasing our foundation Hereford
females from Northern Pump in 1977, Perks
Ranch has
been committed to raising efficient beef
cattle by selecting herd sires and retaining
females that produce better
performing cattle. This herd has
demonstrated, and documented results of
better feed conversion, carcass traits,
mothering and forage ability with the best
of all breeds.
As we selected this year’s sale lots we have
become excited to share these genetics and
young cattle with you, since we
sincerely believe that they do offer
something special and of value to any
serious cattle person.
We are encouraged by
the
results we see in our pastures, and want
this offering to continue the pace of
change for you.
We are also pleased to have the Katzenberger’s involved with us in this
year’s sale and think their offering will
add
additional interest and opportunity to our
Hereford friends, along with an opportunity
to create a new relationship with their
family.
So please join us November 10th to enjoy
time with fellow cattlemen, and make a
selection for herd
improvement and operation efficiency!
Best Regards,
Doug, Craig, and Wade
Greetings fellow
Hereford friends,
We are very excited to be hosting our first production sale, Pride
of the Pasture. This event is a milestone
for our program that has been in the making
for the past 10 years. We are excited that
it is our turn to show some hospitality and
offer some exciting cattle that have done so
well for us.
Since this is our first sale, I should probably offer a little
history about our operation. Plum River
Ranch initially began in the late 70s, when
as young showmen Aaron and I would travel
the local circuit showing steers and
heifers. When we went to college in the late
80s the cattle were dispersed. Ten years,
marriage and six kids later we decided to
start again, so our children could have the
same experience we did. Little did we know
how many wonderful Hereford people, young
and old there are in our great nation. As
kids, Aaron and I never attended
a Junior
National, but since our first child was old
enough we haven’t missed it. Our co-workers
cannot believe the driving time, money
and
vacation days we spend to buy and show
cattle. We tell them it is about more than
just the cattle. Our kids have had a great
start showing and winning with both our
cattle and cattle purchased from many of
you. The highlight of last year’s show
season
was being named Premier Exhibitor at
the 2006 Wisconsin State Fair and World Beef
Expo.
It is important that we take this moment to thank a few people.
First, our parents Nick and Lenore. Thanks
to Dad for his
countless hours of
“voluntary” work at the farm and to Mom for
her patience and support. We would like to
thank Doug Perks
family and Craig Crutcher
for making this Pride of the Pasture
partnership sale a possibility. Their
success, experience and
facilities made this
whole process seem rather simple. We would
also like to recognize Orval Schoonhoven of
O bar D Ranch
who was very influential in
getting us involved with Hereford cattle.
We have opened the gates to sell our entire group of spring heifer
calves. This was a difficult decision
knowing that
we have five kids who need
animals to show. We will celebrate with you
in the winner’s circle. An added value to
those of you planning to show is that we
have halter broke all of our weaned heifers.
We feel this is our best group
of heifers to
date and we are proud to offer them.
We wish those of you traveling a safe trip and look forward to your
arrival. For those of you not able to
attend, please contact us, or a sale
representative if we can assist you in any
way. We look forward to
seeing you on Friday
night for dinner and then on Saturday for
the sale. We are sure you will find a
quality offering of cattle to purchase. But
even more important to us, is that you have
a good time
with good friends.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Sincerely,
Eric, Rosie, Briana, Rhett and Madison
